For me my art is more than just a hobby, it is a way for me to express
myself, and keep me out of trouble at times. A lot of my pieces have been done or started when I was in a crisis of
one sort or another.
I started doing art during my second hospitalization in 2001.
Back then it was a way for me to kill time besides reading. As much as I love to read, one can only read so much.
When I started to do art, my drawings weren't that good. As I drew and drew, my work got better and better. Now
I have shown in a few shows and sold 2 pieces.
I have even helped out with an art gellery and been an assistant
to an Espressive Art Therapist who also ran the gallery with another person. From the 2 of them I have learned a lot
from them. Not just running a gallery, but about creating art such as techniques.
I now intend to take art classes and my future career will combine
art and helping others. Most likely I will go into Expressive Art therapy. I will just have to wait and see though.
